Story board & Plot synopsis

Lilly, a 16 year old girl, is sick of being constantly cyber bullied by an old friend, Rhiannon. Lilly becomes very depressed and isolates herself from the world before finally deciding that life is too much for her to handle. Instead of reaching out for help she decides to end her life through overdosing on drugs. Kyra, Lilly’s best friend, is aware of Lilly’s state and after finding out about her death she decides it’s time for payback. Kyra goes on the hunt for Rhiannon and after finding her she begins to follow and chase her. What will happen when Kyra gets her hands on Rhiannon?

Locations Being Used in Our Film

Location #1 – Norwich Underground Subway

The first location we plan on using is the Norwich Underground Subway. This will be used as it is a very isolated, rundown area which may make the audience feel uneasy. Due to it being an underground location, only a small amount of light is able to reach it meaning that it will be quite dark and gloomy looking as only the lights will illuminate it. We also think this is a good location to use as there is a staircase that goes down to the subway, we will use these as stairs are a typical thriller location. We plan on filming establishing shots of Rhiannon in this location.

Location #2 – Alleyway

The second location we will use in our film is an alleyway. This is another generic convention of a thriller. Using this alleyway will show a claustrophobic setting where it is impossible to escape. This will build tension for the audience as it will be the location where Rhiannon begins to be followed. Alleyways are typically quiet locations which means it will be a good way of being able to film without having to worry too much about the public. Being a quiet location also adds a sense of danger as it means no one is around to help in times of need.

Location #3 – Riverside

We will also be filming by the riverside as there is a long pathway where we will be able to film lots of different and effective shots. Having the river in the shot can make the audience feel on-edge as they may think something may happen involving it, e.g. someone gets pushed in. There are trees in this area so we will be able to use them if needed in order to obstruct the audience’s view or get high angle shots. It is also another quiet area which makes it a good location to be able to film freely without having to worry about people being around.

 

Location #4 – Riverside Bridge

We decided that the Riverside Bridge would be an interesting location to use and film on. Bridges are often used in thrillers so we thought that we would include one. The bridge we have chosen has an area of clear land around it that makes the area look a little rundown. Using the bridge also means that lots of different shots can be used.

Location #5 – Bedroom

A bedroom will be used to film Lilly after having killed herself from drugs. A bedroom will be used as it makes it seem more realistic. This location will help the audience to understand that she took her own life and as the pills are shown all over the bed this will clearly be understood.

Location #6 – School canteen

A school canteen will be used to show Rhiannon sending the text messages to Lilly. This helps the audience to realise that Rhiannon knows Lilly from school and allows them to relate to the characters. 

Evidence of Individual Contribution

Within the group, we have divided the planning, filming and editing between the four of us. This means that each individual will contribute to different parts of the whole project. The table below is a list of the tasks each individual is required to carry out.

Initial Ideas/Concepts of My Thriller Opening.

My group and I came up with the idea for a plot for the opening of our thriller film. The plot involved a girl attending a house party and getting extremely drunk, having her drink spiked and then being taken outside by a strange man. This man would then tie her up and put her in the boot of his car before driving off with her. We found that due to only having a short amount of time to get this filmed and planned, it was an unrealistic storyline that we would not be able to successfully complete. We then had to come up with another story line, we decided that our final plot would involve one girl sending evil messages to another girl which results in the second girl overdosing on pills and killing herself. The girl who kills herself's best friend then goes searching for the girl who sent the text messages in an attempt to get revenge.
